We can get carried away with saying:
“Oh I’ll burn it off tomorrow”
“It’s ok I am running later”
“Ohh you’ll have to get back on the exercise this week after that”
“Let’s sweat the weekend away”
YES I also have a tendency to say these things because I like to promote a healthy balance of “fun” stuff and movement. The “fun” stuff is actually not BAD stuff if it’s balanced out. For example if you are overloading on alcohol, chocolate, pizza and cookies then leading a sedentary lifestyle, the likelihood is that you are over weight! Calories in Vs Calories out... BALANCE and AWARENESS of what’s going in your body AND what you are expending.
Be aware of the balance you need to create in order to maintain your weight/lose weight/gain weight.
There are lots of online calorie calculators. These combined with myfitnesspal are AWESOME!! Set REALISTIC targets though- ones you can stick at for months and months. By realistic I am talking half lb/week for weightlosss... not 5lb... that’s completely unmanageable, unfeasible and you WILL give up! This is why fads always fail...
Once you’ve got tracking down... you’ll realise that you don’t need to punish yourself in the gym/running/classes to hit the targets you’ve set.
Think of exercise as a CELEBRATION of what your body can do. Be proud of every tiny step you take- because they are small steps, always. It’s hard work improving strength, fitness and flexibility and we progress slowly. Our body takes TIME to adapt.
Appreciate your body, and its abilities. Be aware that progress takes a long time. People aren’t where they are at in their fitness/strength/flexibility through a 6 week plan... that is YEARS of dedication, of work, of ups and downs.
